Announcing the launch, Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand said that the increasing frequency of protests in Hyderabad has often posed operational difficulties, particularly when women are involved. “These women have undergone specialised training in karate, along with specific instruction on how to safely detain and manage women during protests,” said Mr. Anand.

The official noted that more personnel will soon be recruited to expand the unit into two full platoons, increasing its strength to 42 members.
Police units relocated for new Osmania Hospital
As construction of a new building for Osmania General Hospital picked up pace within the premises of the Goshamahal Police Stadium, the police commissioner inspected the site.
The official said that the ground and stables have already been temporarily shifted to available space within the stadium complex. Additionally, all remaining police-related departments on the premises were fully moved and formally handed over to the Medical Department.

Mr. Anand informed that the government has earmarked 11.5 acres of land at the stadium site for the Hyderabad City Police. On this land, two five-storey buildings are under construction — one designated for the City Security Wing (CSW) and the other intended for the storage and parking of seized vehicles from across the city’s seven zones. Additionally, a new horse stable and training ground are being developed to accommodate the Mounted Police Unit.
The commissioner further noted that an additional two acres of land near the Traffic Training Institute (TTI) was allocated for the police department’s use. The Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy sanctioned ₹55 crore towards these infrastructure projects and the Police Housing Corporation has been tasked with completing the construction within a year.
