The Indian junior women’s hockey team continued its winning run in Europe with a 3-2 victory over Belgium on Thursday at the Hockey Centre of Excellence in Wilrijkse Plein, Antwerp. This marked India’s third consecutive win on the tour.

Sonam (4’), Lalthantluangi (32’), and Kanika Siwach (51’) found the net for India, while Belgium responded through Marie Goenns (37’) and Marte Marie (40’).

India struck early, with Sonam opening the scoring in the fourth minute through a field goal. The visitor maintained its 1-0 lead through the first half before doubling it early in the third quarter, courtesy of a penalty corner conversion by Lalthantluangi in the 32nd minute.

Belgium bounced back quickly, scoring twice in the span of three minutes. Goenns converted a penalty stroke in the 37th minute, and Marte Marie followed up with a field goal in the 40th to level the match at 2-2.

However, India regained control late in the fourth quarter. Kanika converted a penalty corner in the 51st minute to restore the lead, which the team held on to for a hard-fought win.

Having won all three of its matches against Belgium, India will now face Australia on June 14 as its European tour continues.
