Mexican influencer Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay, aged 32, was found dead in a dramatic case that garnered national attention.
The content creator was confirmed dead by the authorities alongside her husband and two children when their bodies were found abandoned inside a car in Guadalajara.
On 22 August, police in the area found four wrapped in plastic dead bodies inside a pickup truck abandoned in San Andrés neighborhood, as prosecutor Alfonso Gutierrez Santillan described. The victims were later determined to be Garibay, her 36-year-old husband, and their two children, aged 13 and 7. Mexican publication El Financiero broke the identifications several days after the horrific find.
Authorities first took three men who work at a local mechanic shop near where the abandoned car was discovered into custody. The suspects, though, were let go after prosecutors said they could not find enough evidence to directly tie them to the crime. Officials say the case still is open, with local officials still looking for those involved.

Her last video, posted on August 7, depicted her driving along her ranch, and a previous entry captured her pet dog running freely on the grass. These have become the target of eulogies by fans, most of whom commented in the comments section with heartfelt messages following the news of her demise.
“God have mercy on her and her family ???? Something you do not want to happen to anyone,” one of the followers commented in a translated message.
Garibay’s and her family’s senseless killings raise continued concerns regarding violence in Mexico, specifically within the Guadalajara area, which has seen periodic outbreaks of cartel-connected crime. Although authorities have not publicly linked this case to organized crime, the circumstances of the murders are still under investigation.
