Netflix is doubling down on boxing with another headline-making fight, this time pitting social media star-turned-boxer Jake Paul against undefeated lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis in what is expected to be one of the most talked-about matchups of 2025.

The fight is officially scheduled for November 14 at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, marking Paul’s return to the ring nearly one year after his controversial clash with Mike Tyson.

Netflix Steps Into the Boxing Spotlight

The streaming giant, which now boasts more than 300 million subscribers worldwide, entered the boxing space in November 2024 with Paul vs. Tyson – a bout that attracted huge global attention despite criticism about its competitiveness. The platform is also set to televise the blockbuster Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford fight on September 13, a matchup between two of boxing’s pound-for-pound elites.

With Paul vs. Davis added to its lineup, Netflix appears committed to making boxing a permanent fixture on its sports calendar.

Scheduling Confusion and Date Confirmation

Initial reports from Ring Magazine suggested the fight was slated for November 15, citing a post from Netflix’s Turkish account. However, the State Farm Arena was already booked on that date for comedian Nate Bargatze’s “Big Dumb Eyes” tour. As a result, the fight was officially moved up to November 14.

Jake Paul’s Rise in the Boxing World

Paul (12-1, 7 KOs), the YouTube star turned professional fighter, continues to blur the line between spectacle and sport. After defeating former MMA champions Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, and Anderson Silva, Paul notched his biggest win yet in June 2025, beating former WBC middleweight champion Julio César Chávez Jr. via unanimous decision in California.

The victory earned Paul his first official world ranking, a milestone that silenced some critics who dismissed his career as a sideshow. Paul had been in talks to face former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, but those negotiations reportedly collapsed due to broadcast conflicts. Instead, the 27-year-old Ohio native now turns his attention to Davis.

Gervonta Davis: Skill vs. Size

On the other side stands Gervonta “Tank” Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs), one of boxing’s most explosive punchers. A two-division champion, Davis is known for his knockout power and technical skill. However, the fight against Paul presents an unusual dynamic: Davis, typically a lightweight, will give up at least 50 pounds in size against the much larger Paul, who campaigns at cruiserweight.

Davis had been expected to rematch Lamont Roach on August 16 after their controversial draw in March. That plan fell apart when Davis was arrested in July on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge, following an accusation from his ex-girlfriend. The charge was later dropped when the alleged victim declined to prosecute, but Davis’ legal issues forced him to abandon the Roach fight.

On Friday, Roach told Boxing Scene that he was “moving on” from Davis, believing that the Baltimore fighter’s camp had no interest in revisiting the matchup.

High Stakes and High Drama

While Davis is far more experienced in the ring, his lack of size compared to Paul is expected to play a major factor. Paul, who typically weighs in around 200 pounds, will hold a massive physical advantage. Still, Davis has knocked out nearly every opponent he has faced, giving him the kind of finishing power that could make this fight more competitive than skeptics predict.

For Paul, a win over Davis would add legitimacy to his pursuit of a world title. For Davis, it’s a chance to step into a global spotlight unlike any he’s experienced before, thanks to Netflix’s reach.

The Bigger Picture

The matchup is the latest example of Netflix’s strategy to shake up the boxing business, attracting casual fans with celebrity-driven fights while also showcasing elite matchups like Alvarez vs. Crawford. With boxing audiences fragmented across networks and pay-per-view platforms, Netflix is betting on its subscriber base to deliver numbers never before seen in the sport.

Whether Paul vs. Davis becomes a competitive fight or a spectacle remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: it will draw massive attention, headlines, and debate across the sports world.

The countdown to November 14 has begun.
