Jennifer Aniston’s latest confession is strikingly relatable, she admits she’s a workaholic who finds it nearly impossible to unplug.
The Morning Show actress recently told People magazine that despite knowing how important it is to slow down, she finds it tough to actually do it.
“I’m a bit of a workaholic, so I’m forcing myself to try to take some time to travel and not work,” she admitted. “It’s so critical, I know, but I’m not good at it.”
Aniston, 52, explained that constantly grinding away at work without taking a break eventually starts to feel like it’s not worth it. “Our work is diminishing returns at the end of the day, if you’re just working so much that you don’t have any wonderful life experiences.”
She’s now trying to ease up a bit and embrace the idea of rest, especially after what she called a “really intensive few years of work.” One of the small changes she’s starting with? Learning how to use out-of-office replies.
“I’m trying desperately to learn how to create those auto replies when emails and texts come in,” she joked. “Where it’s like, ‘I’m away forever. But call me in December, I’ll be back.’”
And when she does manage a rare day off? She’s not filling it with plans. Her perfect day is all about freedom. “It looks like a blank schedule – there’s not one thing on it,” she said. “That’s a perfect day, and then I can figure out what that day looks like as it goes.”
Even though taking time off is hard for her, Jennifer knows the value in putting yourself first. With everything happening in the world, she believes it’s more important than ever to focus on what’s good.
“There’s a lot that we need to not focus on, because it’s so awful and ugly,” she said. “So we need to also remember to focus on the beauty and the positivity that’s also existing in our world right now.”
That doesn’t mean she’s stepping away from her career entirely. Far from it. One major goal she still has her eye on? Performing in a Broadway play.
“I definitely want to do a Broadway play,” Aniston shared. “That’s on my bucket list, but it’s finding the time and finding the right piece, the right material. But I absolutely have to do a play on Broadway.”
So while Jennifer Aniston may be trying to find balance, she’s still dreaming big – just maybe with a little more time to breathe.
