Legendary DJ and producer Josh Wink is taking fans on another deep dive into his archives with the second installment of his Found Sounds series.
Following the buzz surrounding its release earlier this year, the new release is a rare live recording of a hot, high-energy night at the ‘Nike Pavilion’ in Atlanta, GA, during the height of the U.S. rave movement. The set drops September 5 exclusively on Apple Music, giving listeners a raw cut of electronic music history.
Wink remembers the night with both clarity and mystery. “It’s a little unclear which party this was from,” he admits, “but I remember it being packed and sweaty, one of those unforgettable rave nights. You can actually hear the crowd cheering through the turntable’s needle at times.” That live energy, he says, made it a place where he felt free to experiment across genres, seamlessly blending house, acid, minimal, and techno.
Recorded entirely on vinyl, the ‘Nike Pavilion’ set captures Wink’s adventurous spirit, as he delved into obscure white labels and limited-press records. Some tracks are so obscure that even Wink himself can’t identify them today. “When I tried to ID some of the tracks, I couldn’t,” he said with a laugh. “Maybe fans can join the ‘ID game’ and help solve the mystery.”
The Found Sounds series debuted earlier this year with Wink’s legendary 1998 set from Twilo, a New York club night still remembered as one of the city’s most iconic moments in rave culture. With these archival releases, Wink continues to celebrate his 30-year career, which has included defining tracks like “Don’t Laugh,” “I’m Ready,” and “Higher State of Consciousness.”
For Wink, Found Sounds is not merely nostalgia, it’s about celebrating the improvisational spirit, risk-taking, and innovation that defined rave culture in its heyday. The ‘Nike Pavilion’ recording is a snapshot of that time when underground dancefloors pulsed with potential, boundaries dissolved, and communities united through music.
With this new installment, Josh Wink again demonstrates why he is still a central figure in electronic music. Fans can listen to the release exclusively on Apple Music beginning September 5 and revisit a time when the underground rave culture was alive and well.
