Electronic group Kasablanca has officially revealed the complete release of their highly anticipated debut album Higher Resolution, out on November 21.
The album represents a milestone in their swift rise in the international dance music world.
Since emerging in 2020 with their Human Learning EP, the Toronto duo – signing as Micky and Viktor Kasablanca – have been established as one of electronic music’s hottest live propositions. Their big break arrived via the Lane 8 collaboration Run, which has reached over 40 million streams and propelled them onto the global map.
Kasablanca’s fame has increased solely with their energetic live shows at famous stages and festivals like Coachella, Red Rocks, Printworks, The Gorge, and even Brazil’s Carnival. Their songs have also topped radio waves with endorsements from BBC Radio 1 and SiriusXM, and their viral Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers, and The Prodigy covers sparked huge activity on all social media channels.
In 2023, the pair launched their first-ever headlining tour, selling out dates at historic clubs around North America. That momentum was temporarily derailed when frontman Micky was diagnosed with cancer, forcing the pair to take a brief hiatus. His return and stageshow comeback were however preceded by the release of Remission, another collaboration with Lane 8, which they premiered with their acclaimed sets at Ultra Music Festival.
Over the past year, Kasablanca accelerated forward with a string of releases and over 40 tour dates, including more than 20 headlining shows. In October 2024, they unveiled Higher Resolution (Side A), a diverse collection of tracks blending dancefloor energy with more introspective sounds. Fans have eagerly awaited the second half of the project, and with Side B now confirmed, they will finally hear long-teased IDs that have been staples in Kasablanca’s live sets.
Among the most eagerly awaited are ‘Audio Machina’, a song first played two years ago and which made instant online waves, and Television, which has been a fans’ favorite ever since. The album also includes their cover of The Prodigy’s Breathe, further demonstrating their skill at transforming classics into new, futuristic interpretations.
Higher Resolution will be released digitally on November 21, with physical formats already available for pre-order. The pair also have additional tour dates lined up to wrap up the year, so fans everywhere will get to continue feeling their energy-packed live shows.
With their debut album now finished, Kasablanca doesn’t appear to be slowing down – cementing themselves as one of the most promising forces of contemporary electronic music.
