Katie Thurston isn’t here for wedding photo shade – especially when it comes from someone she barely remembers from her Bachelorette season.
The reality star, who revealed her stage four metastatic breast cancer diagnosis earlier this year, recently put former contestant Cody Menk on blast for a comment he left on pictures from her wedding to comedian Jeff Arcuri.
Back in March, Katie and Jeff tied the knot in an intimate backyard ceremony surrounded by close friends and family. But months later, Cody popped up on Instagram, commenting on their April wedding post, “Good couple! Both solid 5s.”
The dig didn’t go unnoticed. On August 6, Katie shared a screenshot of the since-deleted remark to her Instagram Stories with the caption, “Remember this guy from my season? Me either. But he’s still here lurking on my page. Thanks for being a fan.”
For those who need a refresher, Cody appeared on Katie’s 2021 season of The Bachelorette but was sent home during week two. Fans wasted no time rushing to the comments section of Katie’s original post to defend her. One joked, “Where’s Cody? I just wanna talk…” to which Katie replied, “Blocked so I’ll never know now,” adding a laughing-crying emoji for good measure.
The shade aside, Katie has been focused on bigger battles. In July, she shared a major update on her health, revealing that recent scans showed her tumors are shrinking. “This is amazing news and I am so relieved!” she posted on July 7. She also noted that she would likely remain on treatment for life, reflecting on how her diagnosis came months after she first noticed a lump. “I was 33 years old with no family history. Why would I ever suspect cancer – but it was,” she admitted.
Since learning of her diagnosis, Katie has been candid about her journey, from the decision to move her wedding forward to starting IVF before chemotherapy. She’s also been open about the side effects of treatment, including memory loss. In June, she recalled a moment at customs when she couldn’t remember where she had just traveled from, saying, “I don’t remember. I don’t remember.”
Through it all, Katie has kept her sense of humor and resilience intact – whether it’s handling chemo with honesty or shutting down petty Instagram comments. Her fans continue to rally behind her, celebrating both her personal victories and her ability to keep things real in the face of challenges.
