KFC lovers, your wait is over – the fast food behemoth is finally restoring two of its most-hailed menu items.

As of August 18, Potato Wedges and Hot & Spicy Wings will be on the menu in KFC restaurants nationwide, putting an end to years of yearning and endless customer demand.

Potato Wedges, first introduced in the mid-1990s, quickly became a staple for KFC lovers through the late ’90s and early 2000s. But in 2020, they were controversially replaced by Secret Recipe Fries, sparking years of “bring back the wedges” pleas online. After five long years, the golden, seasoned wedges are making a comeback.

Hot & Spicy Wings are also coming back after almost two years out of commission. Marinated for heat and double hand-breaded in KFC’s signature Extra Crispy flour, they’re the kind of kick fans have been craving. Both offerings will be available while supplies last, so die-hard fans may want to circle their calendars.

In a statement, KFC U.S. President Catherine Tan-Gillespie informed that the move was directly out of customer response. “Wedge-lovers, we heard you – and we think you have a point it’s been five long years since wedges have been around. But wait no more,” she stated. “This is not merely a retro reference. It’s just one example of how we’re listening and acting on feedback as we map our Kentucky Fried Comeback.”

Customers can purchase Potato Wedges as a separate side, substitute them for another side, or get the new six-piece Wings & Wedges combo, which includes a medium drink. Fry enthusiasts needn’t fret – Secret Recipe Fries remain on the menu.

KFC is also introducing a batch of promotions timed to coincide with back-to-school shopping and the start of football season. Beginning August 18, customers can get a $3.99 KFC Chicken Sandwich – an Extra Crispy chicken filet on a toasted brioche bun with pickles and mayo or spicy mayo. There is also the $20 Wings & Wedges Fan Favorites Box, featuring 10 Hot & Spicy Wings, 12 Chicken Nuggets, Potato Wedges, four biscuits, and four dipping sauces.

And for wing enthusiasts, September 4 offers a digital-only promotion: 20 Hot & Spicy Wings and four sauces for $20. Tuesdays are also becoming more delicious with the $10 Tuesdays promotion – eight pieces of fried chicken or Original Recipe Tenders for $10 every Tuesday.

For KFC, though, it’s not merely about the return of old favorites but about reminding enthusiasts why they first loved the brand. With the return of Potato Wedges, the spiciness of Hot & Spicy Wings, and a lineup of affordable combos, the chain is obviously going all in on its “Kentucky Fried Comeback” and delivering what people have been clamoring for.

Whether you’re missing the wedges of your youth or you’ve been itching for that added crunch and spice of the wings, August 18 is the day to take a KFC trip. Just don’t be surprised if there’s a line – it turns out, absence makes the heart (and the stomach) grow fonder.
