A 29-year-old labourer allegedly bludgeoned his nephew to death on Sunday, June 8, over a row involving a mobile phone in Batlahalli, which falls under the Chintamani taluk of Chikkaballapura district, Karnataka.

The deceased, Sunil, sustained severe head injuries, and was rushed to a local hospital. He was then shifted to NIMHANS in Bengaluru where he succumbed on Tuesday, June 10.

According to the police, Sunil and the accused Ramesh were living in the same house as part of a joint family, and both were working as labourers. Sunil had reportedly borrowed Ramesh’s phone and was not returning it.
