The Mattancherry police arrested a man on charge of assaulting an employee of a bar and leaving him seriously injured on Sunday around 10 p.m.
The arrested is Muwad, 31, of Chullickal. According to the police, the accused assaulted the barman at the counter for insisting that drinks could be served only after paying the bill in advance. The accused allegedly assaulted the employee after forcing his way into the counter by breaking down the door separating the counter from the customer area.
The bar employee was also reportedly hit on the back of his head with a beer bottle and was stabbed with the broken bottle.
