In yet another incident of wild elephant attack at Attappady in Palakkad, Kerala, a man was injured seriously when a tusker smashed into him at Moolakkada near Sholayur on Sunday night.
Senthil, 35, from South Kadampara, Attappady, was admitted to Attappady Tribal Speciality Hospital at Kottathara. Hospital sources said he suffered multiple injuries, including broken ribs.
The attack took place around 9.30 p.m. on Sunday by the roadside at Moolakkada. Local residents shifted Senthil to the hospital with the help of the forest staff.
The frequency of wild animal attacks, particularly elephant encounters, has escalated across the State, with Attappady being a hotspot. A 75-year-old tribesman named Mallan lost his life in a brutal elephant attack in Pudur, Attappady, on May 30. The incident occurred while Mallan was grazing cattle with his wife and grandchild.
