Perrie Edwards is delivering good news to her fans again.
The Little Mix star has announced that she and fiancé Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are expecting her second child, weeks after disclosing a devastating pregnancy loss she had in the past.
The 32-year-old singer made the sweet announcement on September 6 in a sentimental Instagram clip. In the video, she was seen sporting a top that bore a strong message. The back said, “If He Wanted To He Would…” before she spun around to show off both the front, which completed the phrase with “…and He Did! “, and her expanding baby bump. Soon after, her fiancé Alex and their three-year-old son Axel showed up in the frame to offer her a lovely family hug and peck.
Edwards captioned the photo with a heartfelt but straightforward note: “Guess what hunnies…”
The news thrilled fans and arrives at a very emotional moment for the singer. It was barely a month ago that Edwards revealed how she mourned the loss of her pregnancy after experiencing a miscarriage just a few months after she and Alex had their first child back in 2021. On the We Need to Talk podcast, she openly explained just how tough the experience was, particularly given that she was juggling new motherhood with rehearsing for the Little Mix tour.
“Axel wasn’t walking yet and we were pregnant,” she remembered. “I discovered it when I was rehearsing for the Little Mix tour. I was in rehearsals and I thought, ‘Oh I don’t feel well.’ All the symptoms of the world so I was like, ‘I think I’m pregnant.’”
She and Alex were overjoyed after confirming that she was pregnant, but soon issues began to arise after she took to the road in April 2022. “I bled every night before a show,” she described. “I’d sit there and think, ‘This is it, I’ve lost the baby.’”
Doctors had assured her the baby was okay, but at her 20-week scan, she was delivered some horrific news. “That was just the worst day of my life, like horrendous,” Perrie revealed. “I just knew something was wrong in the scan.”
The singer, who had previously experienced a miscarriage before her pregnancy with Axel, admitted the ordeal was deeply traumatizing. “I was just traumatized,” she revealed, adding that she was crying so much afterward that she couldn’t even drive home. “I think when you’re fully carrying and you’re 24 weeks and you’ve planned out like their room and all these things, it’s really hard.”
Edwards’ candor regarding her loss has struck a chord with supporters, who largely commended her for openly discussing the frequently quieted topic of miscarriage and pregnancy complications. The actress’s honesty highlights the mental and emotional burden endured by countless women and couples, particularly those under scrutiny.
Now, with her second pregnancy now confirmed, there is growing excitement among her fanbase and supporters of Alex, who has had his own career successes as a professional footballer. The couple, who first became public about their romance in 2017 and got engaged in 2022, continue to attract admiration for the closeness of their family unit.
For Edwards, this next chapter is one of healing and hope. Although she has experienced loss, she is entering her second pregnancy under love and positivity. With Alex and Axel by her side, she is embracing the journey forward while also paying tribute to her past experiences. The news also represents a unique moment for Little Mix fans, who have been following the singer’s life since her time on The X Factor. As she gets ready to bring another baby into the world, Perrie Edwards is not just welcoming her increasing family but also motivating thousands of fans by opening up about both her setbacks and her achievements.
