Puspa on a Pushpa.

Puspa on a Pushpa.

“Puspa” can refer to a Sanskrit term for
“flower,” an Indonesian and Sanskrit
name.

Acytolepis puspa, the common hedge blue, is a
small butterfly of blues family found in
Cambodia, India, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia,
Singapur, Yunnan, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Philippines,
Borneo and New Guinea.

The species was first described by Thomas
Horsfield in 1828.

As the name implies, the Common Hedge Blue flies
busily around hedges. It feeds on flowers and
males engage in mud sipping.

It prefers rather wet habitats such as forests and
verdant gardens and it also appears in scrublands
with sparse trees in the rainy season.
