Rain accompanied by gusty winds lashed Yadgir district headquarters between 10.30 p.m. and 11.30 p.m. on Thursday night. Owing to strong winds, several electricity poles were uprooted. Power supply was disrupted for several hours. However, there has been no report on any further heavy damage, according to GESCOM sources.
Rain and drain water inundated low-lying areas. Sources in the Revenue Department say that two goats died in rain-related incidents.
As usual, pre-monsoon rain lashed the district, particularly the rural areas. Rain that lashed the district two weeks ago damaged paddy and other standing crops in hundreds of areas of land.
Farmers, meanwhile, complained about the delay in completing survey to assess crop damage due to rain and winds.
