Rain lashed several parts of Hyderabad on Thursday evening, disrupting traffic and catching commuters off guard during peak commute time.

Multiple areas in the city experienced light to moderate rainfall, leading to water-logging in some low-lying zones in Secunderabad and Neredmet, and a slowdown in vehicular movement during peak hours.

According to data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), as of 6 p.m, Kapra recorded 37.5 mm of rainfall, followed by 37.3 mm in Mallapur, 33.5 mm in Neredmet, 26.3 mm in Moula Ali, 21.5 mm in LB Nagar, 19.3 mm in Anandbagh, 18 mm in Secunderabad, 17 mm in Uppal, 16.5 mm in AS Rao Nagar, 14.3 mm in Musheerabad, 14 mm in Nacharam and 13.3 mm in Seethaphalmandi.

To manage the situation, traffic police personnel and teams from the Disaster Response Force (DRF) of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) were deployed at key junctions across the city to regulate traffic flow.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for all 33 districts of Telangana, warning of strong gusty winds likely to occur at isolated places.

For Hyderabad and surrounding areas, the IMD forecast predicts generally cloudy skies over the next 24 hours. Light to moderate rain accompanied by gusty winds is expected, with maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be around 31°C and 23°C, respectively.
