Cooperation Minister K.N. Rajanna on Tuesday said he had decided to stay out of elections in future.
Speaking to reporters in Mysuru, Mr. Rajanna, however, said he would remain active in politics and participate in the cooperation movement.
Pointing out that he was already 75 years old and would be 78 by the time the next Assembly elections are held, the Minister said it was his personal view that it would be difficult for him to work for another five years from the time he turns 78.
“Youngsters will be given an opportunity, and we have to give them guidance,” Mr. Rajanna said while reiterating that he would not quit politics completely even if he stays out of electoral politics.
On Cabinet reshuffle
When his attention was drawn to former Minister Tanveer Sait’s reported remarks that several Ministers, whose performance was not up to the mark, would be dropped to accommodate new faces, Mr. Rajanna said the Congress high command would take a decision on all these matters.
“Who decides such issues? It is neither Tanveer Sait nor I. It is the Congress high command,” he said before adding that all decisions were taken by the party high command while the rest of the statements are just “personal views”.
