With the incumbent Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president, Roger Binny, set to turn 70 next month, Rajeev Shukla is likely to take over as the interim chief for a period of three months.

According to the BCCI constitution, an office-bearer cannot hold a position beyond the age of 70, which makes Binny, a member of India’s 1983 World Cup-winning team, ineligible for the role after July 19.

Shukla, who is currently the vice-president of the Board and the senior-most office-bearer in the present regime, will oversee the president’s duties until a new chief is elected.

Shukla has held the position of BCCI vice-president since late 2020. He also served as the secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association until 2017 and was the chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL) until 2018.
