Comedy fans are in for a nostalgic treat as Anna Faris and Regina Hall are officially set to return for Scary Movie 6.
The duo, who last appeared together in the fourth installment back in 2006, will reprise their fan-favorite roles as Cindy and Brenda. The news was confirmed on Friday, August 15, when Marlon Wayans shared a throwback photo of the actresses from the original 2000 film with the caption, “They’re back.”
In a joint statement, Faris, 48, and Hall, 54, expressed their excitement about stepping back into the franchise that made them household names. “We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again),” the actresses joked.
The upcoming sequel will be directed by Michael Tiddes, best known for helming comedies like A Haunted House. Adding to the excitement, Keenen Ivory Wayans, who wrote and directed the first two Scary Movie films, is back as producer, while brothers Marlon and Shawn Wayans return as writers and cast members.
The Wayans brothers had previously teased their comeback in October 2024, confirming that after nearly two decades away, they were finally reviving the franchise that became a cultural phenomenon. “WE’RE BACK!!! After nearly 20 years, the Wayans brothers are finally going to give the fans what they’ve been asking for … a return to the SCARY MOVIE franchise!” Marlon wrote at the time.
For Faris, the decision to return hinged on her bond with Hall. Speaking to PEOPLE in July 2024, the House Bunny star admitted, “I would love to work with Regina again. I just love her so much. We would make each other giggle all day long. Regina Hall would be my answer. And money. But mostly all Regina!”
The Scary Movie series, which debuted in 2000, became one of the most successful parody franchises in Hollywood, poking fun at iconic horror and pop culture moments. Fans still recall Faris’ quirky Cindy and Hall’s over-the-top Brenda as the heart of the series.
With the original team back together and fresh creative energy from Tiddes and Miramax, Scary Movie 6 is shaping up to be a double reunion for both the cast and the audience. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on June 12, 2026.
