Marshall, also a known quantity to audiences as one of the trio Please Don’t Destroy, joined the staff as a writer in 2021. He frequently shared screen time with group members John Higgins and Martin Herlihy, making him a familiar presence to long-time viewers.
Alongside him are some of the up-and-coming stars in the comedy scene. Tommy Brennan, a stand-up on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, was picked as a 2023 Just for Laughs New Face of Comedy. Posting on Instagram, Brennan said, “This doesn’t feel real, but we’ll see you guys on Saturdays!”
Veronika Slowikowska, whose viral sketch videos have earned her an online following, has appeared in the Netflix comedy Tires and fan-favorite What We Do in the Shadows. She called joining the cast “a dream come true.”
Jeremy Culhane, who has made a name for himself through his viral TikTok sketches, is also a Dropout TV regular and performs with the Upright Citizens Brigade in Los Angeles. Kam Patterson completes the lineup, who has worked on the live comedy podcast Kill Tony as well as the upcoming Netflix comedy 72 Hours.
A season of change
The news comes on the heels of a reported big cast overhaul announced by creator Lorne Michaels. In August, longtime cast member Heidi Gardner said she would not return, and Devon Walker, Michael Longfellow, and Emil Wakim also said goodbye. Long-time writer Celeste Yim is also leaving.
With new cast members replacing the old, the show is in line for what is shaping up to be a season of renewal. Viewers will get to see the new cast in action when Saturday Night Live Season 51 begins on October 4 at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
