“Several people injured near Espanyol stadium after being hit by a vehicle,” a statement from the Police of Catalonia read.
“The situation is controlled and in no case does it pose a risk to people inside the sports venue.”
“The injured people are being treated by emergency services and the driver of the vehicle has been arrested,” the Police of Catalonia added.
“There is a large police presence in the area.”
It’s not clear who the driver is and what caused the driver of the vehicle to drive into the crowd.
The shocking scenes momentarily halted play inside the stadium, however, the match is still going on with the game goalless at half time.
Barcelona can secure the LaLiga title with a win as it will take them an unassailable seven points clear of second-placed Real Madrid with two matches remaining.
