Students Federation of India (SFI) organised a protest march to the headquarters of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University on Wednesday, demanding a review of the controversial ‘year-out’ system affecting B.Tech students under the 2019 regulations.

SFI State president M. Sivaprasad inaugurated the demonstration. The organisation highlighted widespread concerns over the regulation that required students to secure at least 21 credits from the first and second semesters to proceed to the fifth, and 47 credits from the first to fourth semesters to advance to the seventh semester. The system, SFI alleged, had forced many students to either drop out or seek credit transfer to universities in other States.

Following the march, a delegation of the protesters met Vice-Chancellor (in-charge) K. Sivaprasad, who agreed to study the issue and consider their demand.
