Electronic music legend Tom Middleton has collaborated with elusive Sienna – aka producer Richard Gwinnett – on the much-awaited release of ‘YNTOO / Olympic’, which is available now through Anjunadeep Explorations.
The record YNTOO originally surfaced around nine years ago on the Anjunadeep 08 compilation back in 2016, from which it was fast-tracked as a cult anthem for underground followers. All these years, fans have been clamouring for a full release, and now the single is finally here with a full package: original Sienna version, Middleton’s archival ’92 Mix, and an industry-weight new remix by UK bass legend Scuba.
Middleton, who came to prominence during the early ’90s as half of Global Communication alongside Mark Pritchard, has continued to be a formative presence in electronic and ambient music. Through seminal releases such as 76:14, co-productions with Aphex Twin, and remixes for Depeche Mode and Crazy P, his presence can be felt across decades. His 2001 BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix remains a genre-defining classic, and later works like his Sleep Better wellness LP showcase his progressive versatility.
YNTOO’s history started with Sienna’s initial track, which Middleton remixed for the release on Anjunadeep 08. Fans now have access to the complete single, and they get to enjoy the track in several layers. Middleton’s ’92 Mix contributes a hypnotic, euphoric feel that resembles a middle ground between the early rave scene and contemporary melodic deep house music.
Scuba, Hotflush Recordings boss and central figure behind Berlin’s now-legendary SUB:STANCE nights at Berghain, imposes a darker, more sombre presence with his remix. With six studio albums, remixes for Rudimental and John Newman, and releases on top-tier imprints such as Sasha’s Last Night On Earth, Scuba here provides a reinterpretation that blends UK rave heritage with Berlin techno minimalism. Middleton also recently featured on Scuba’s Not A Diving podcast, which underscores their artistic affinity.
‘YNTOO / Olympic’ is not just a highly anticipated single – it’s a cross-generational collaboration that takes the world of electronic music back to the present. For listeners who first found it in 2016 and have waited patiently for an official release, the project is a gesture of closure as much as it is of rebirth. With the added unreleased ’92 Mix and the fresh ears of Scuba, the track is guaranteed to connect with listeners from all genres and generations.
The single is out now on all major streaming sites, with focus on the special ’92 Mix introducing YNTOO to new ears and old fans of Anjunadeep’s heritage sound.
