Telugu folk singer Mangli was among four persons booked by the Cyberabad police on Tuesday night following a raid on a party held without the requisite permission from the Excise Department. The event was part of her birthday celebrations at Tripura Resort in Chevella.

Cases have been booked against Sivarama Krishna, AGM, Tripura Resorts, M. Satyavathi alias Mangli, Dune Megharaj and K. Damodhar Reddy on the charges of violations of Excise Act, Loudspeakers rule and NDPS Act. The police said notices have been issued to the accused and further investigation is underway to identify the ganja supplier.

A substantial quantity of liquor was found at the venue. While no narcotic substances were recovered during the raid, attendees were subjected to drug tests during the operation carried out jointly by the Cyberabad Special Operations Team (SOT) and the Chevella police.

According to an official part of the investigation, nine individuals, including four women and five men, were tested for drug consumption. Only K. Damodhar Reddy, tested positive for ganja.

The gathering was attended by around 25 guests, many of whom were associated with the film industry.

“The birthday party was organised without obtaining prior permission to serve liquor from the Excise Department, prompting a case to be registered against the singer and her brother. Additionally, the resort manager and the DJ operator have been booked for conducting the event without necessary approvals and for violating police regulations,” said an official from the SOT.
