A six member committee was formed for a comprehensive investigation into the fire accident which claimed lives of 17 people near Gulzar Houz in Charminar of Hyderabad on Sunday (May 18, 2025).

The 17 members who died were from the same family, including seven children. The fire broke at a jewellery store at the ground floor of a three-storey building and quickly spread to all the floors.
A report including details on the cause of the fire accident, measures taken by various departments has to be submitted to the Chief Minister, said Hyderabad in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Tuesday (May 20, 2025). To avoid such fire accidents, suggestions to the people based on the situations locally have to be included.

After the report is submitted, the Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka would have a review meeting with senior officials and take action.

The committee includes Fire Service department director general Y. Nagi Reddy, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) commissioner R.V. Karnan, Hyderabad police commissioner C.V. Anand, Southern Power Distribution Company Limited of Telangana (TGSPDCL) chairman and managing director Musharraf Faruqui, Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) commissioner A.V. Ranganath and Hyderabad collector Anudeep Durishetty.
