Following his move from Manchester United last summer, the midfielder scored 12 goals in 34 league appearances.

He also provided six assists for his teammates to inspire Napoli to their fourth league title.

Antonio Conte’s side sealed the title by beating Cagliari 2-0 at home on Friday, with McTominay opening the scoring.

The win ensured they ended the campaign a point ahead of title rivals Inter Milan.

Following their triumph, Napoli celebrated with supporters during an open-top bus parade through the city.

Footage from the celebrations showed McTominay smoking a cigarette and singing as he held the trophy aloft.

The Scotland international was later captured dancing at a venue as the party continued.

McTominay has become a fan favourite amongst supporters since his move to Italy.

His performances for Napoli also earned him Serie A’s MVP Award as he was named the league’s player of the season.

The title victory is the third trophy of the 28-year-old’s career after lifting the Carabao Cup and FA Cup with United.

Speaking after the win over Cagliari, McTominay told DAZN: “The sacrifice of every single player in this group is just incredible.

“The people deserve it, as they’ve been behind us from day one. For me to come here and experience this, it’s just a dream.”

He added: “My Italian is OK, I can understand, but speaking it takes more confidence and it’s not easy.

“It is much easier to do it with people who don’t speak any English. I can feel a lot of love.”

Napoli’s second Serie A title in three season has also secured their return to the Champions League.

The former quarter-finalists will enter in the league phase after a one-year hiatus.

However, they appear set to do so with a new manager in the dugout amid doubts over Conte’s future.

According to reports in Italy, the Napoli boss is set to leave his role, with Massimiliano Allegri the leading candidate to replace him.
