Superintendent of Police (SP) K. Pratap Shiva Kishore appointed Pedavegi District Police Training Centre (DTC) Deputy Superintendent of Police, Prasada Rao, as Special Supervisory Officer (District Nodal Officer) for Animal Welfare in Eluru district.
The Special Supervisory Officer has been appointed as per the orders of the A.P. High Court and the guidelines of the Animal Welfare Board, to prevent the illegal transportation and slaughter of animals. The SP on Sunday asked the public to alert the Eluru District Nodal Officer over Phone No. 9440404010, if they notice or having information regarding illegal transportation or slaughter of animals.
Meanwhile, Khammam Police Commissioner Sunil Dutt reviewed on illegal transportation of animals at the border check posts. Mr. Sunil Dutt said that seven border check posts have been arranged to prevent illegal transportation of animals. Officers of Police and Animal Husbandry Departments will maintain joint vigil on the borders, the CP said, and warned of stern action against the smugglers.
