STBAN returns to the fore with a fresh track that encapsulates the passion of Spanish dance culture perfectly.
Fresh from championing the likes of Cuban duo PAUZA and Spanish producer Crusy on his FLAMENCA Records label, the label head strikes again with his new scorching single, “Ibiza Jaleo.”
The album is an ambitious tribute to Flamenco-Latin House, fusing the rich heritage of Iberian tradition with a contemporary electronic edge. By the opening notes, “Ibiza Jaleo” creates a hot Mediterranean atmosphere. Intricate Spanish guitar figures greet us at the opening before breaking into driving groove founded upon chugging basslines and syncopated la palma – Flamenco’s rapid, sharp hand claps. Rather than depend on vocals, STBAN allows the instrumentation to speak for itself, interweaving understated synths and keys around the acoustic components. The outcome is a song that has a highly organic feel but is club-worthy, a natural transition point between the past and the present.
“Dancing for me is emotion, rhythm and heart beating,” STBAN explained. “Dancing is the best way you can get that emotion you feel in the song across. When we produce and create music, we always have the rhythm in mind, how it will touch the people dancing to our music.”
Since setting up FLAMENCA Records in June this year, STBAN has been driven to bring Flamenco-inspired house music to the global arena. Distributed by Toolroom Records, the label has already provided top-notch releases such as La Palma, Plaza de Gloria, and Baila Conmigo. With remixes and edits by leading figures such as James Hurr, Qubiko, Jesus Fernandez, and Kevin McKay, FLAMENCA has emerged as a label to be reckoned with in the electronic music genre.
Outside the studio, STBAN has been touring FLAMENCA Live to some of the world’s largest festivals and clubs, such as Airbeat One Festival, World Club Dome, TANTRA Ibiza, Montreux Jazz Festival, and MAD Club in Lausanne. His dream of combining the fire of Flamenco and the energy of house music is catching hold with listeners, winning him recognition from publications such as We Rave You, CULTR, EDM Nomad, and EDM House Network.
With “Ibiza Jaleo,” STBAN solidifies himself as more than a producer, but as a cultural force. It’s an album that throbs with history, passion, and rhythm, designed for dreamers and dancers alike.
