It was a day of nostalgia and warmth for M. Swaraj, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate for the Nilambur Assembly byelection. On Sunday (June 8, 2025) afternoon, as he was busy criss-crossing the constituency seeking votes, he found a special moment to cherish.
At Green Art Auditorium, Nilambur, a gathering of familiar faces welcomed him with open arms. Among them were his teachers, classmates and friends. The evening was a throwback to simpler times, as they relived old memories and shared laughter.
The event was aptly titled ‘Oru Vattam Koodiyen Priya Swarajinoppom’ meaning ‘one more time with our dear Swaraj’, a gesture that captured the warmth and affection of the gathering. It provided a cherished opportunity for Mr. Swaraj’s friends and teachers to reconnect with him, reminiscing about old times and sharing laughter.
Writer K.R. Meera inaugurated the gathering. Mr. Swaraj’s teacher at college Mini Prasad, who coordinated the gathering, presided over the function.
Those who shared their memories and experiences with the candidate included M.K. Divakaran, Thresiamma, A.K. Baby, Suresh Tiruvali, Anoop T.N., Sindhu Shankar, Biju John, Naveen Prasad, Lenin K. James, Mujeeb Mampadan, Deepa Divakar, P.K. Vinod, Suresh Naduvath, C.K. Radhakrishnan, Pisharady, Mujeeb Karulai and P. Devanand.
In his address to the gathering, Mr. Swaraj reminisced about the good old days and expressed his gratitude for the warm camaraderie. He sought their support and involvement in the intense byelection battle, requesting a helping hand in his electoral endeavours.
Biji Abraham welcomed the gathering and Manohar Varghese proposed a vote of thanks.
