The LIV Tour swings back into action after a five-week break on Friday at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia, with some of the leading lights hoping for the perfect preparation for next week’s US Open.

Bryson DeChambeau will defend his trophy at Oakmont and will be looking to sign off with another win after finishing top dog at the last LIV gathering in South Korea, so it is little surprise to see him at the head of the market.

LIV Virginia betting tips

  • Bryson DeChambeau to win LIV Virginia @ 9/2
  • Patrick Reed to win LIV Virginia @ 16/1
  • Lucas Herbert to win LIV Virginia @ 22/1

Bryson DeChambeau to win @ 9/2

Bryson DeChambeau claimed a two-shot success in Korea the last time the LIV Tour was in action and he has remained at the top of his game to suggest that not only is he the man to beat at LIV Virginia but is also likely to be a factor at next week’s US Open.

The big-hitting boffin defends the Major he won for the second time at Pinehurst last year when the game’s elite congregate at Oakmont, and he is well capable of dealing with business before the trip to Pennsylvania.

DeChambeau has been a top Major performer this year with a fifth place at the Masters after he slipped out of contention and he was then tied for second at the US PGA Championship after his Korea win.

World number one Scottie Scheffler won on that occasion and has claimed three trophies in four efforts, so, much like Rory McIlroy who plays at the Canadian Open this week, DeChambeau will be keen to demonstrate he can get the better of the red-hot Texan at Oakmont.

Being away from the PGA Tour has done nothing to quell DeChambeau’s hunger for glory and he can justify favouritism this week.

Patrick Reed to win @ 16/1

Another LIV operator who will be at Oakmont is Patrick Reed and his recent results suggest he could head to the year’s third Major with a spring in his step.

The 2018 Masters champion missed the cut at the PGA Championship but he had been fourth in Korea before that Quail Hollow disappointment, closing with a 65 that was bettered by only one play on the Sunday.

He was tenth in Hong Kong, seventh in Miami and played superbly to finish third at the Masters so a bold bid is anticipated.

Lucas Herbert to win @ 22/1

Australian Lucas Herbert has been making LIV waves this year and is definitely one to keep an eye on this week.

He was fourth in both Riyadh and Hong Kong and was second alongside DeChambeau when Joaquin Niemann claimed one of his three titles this year in Mexico City.

Herbert’s 31st in Adelaide was the only occasion in six efforts where he has failed to make the top 20, and his confidence was further boosted by a five-shot win in the International Series Japan on the Asian Tour last month.
