London-born singer-songwriter Renee Thomas, who operates under the alias TheGoddessMusic, has officially released her Ashe EP on September 5 through Roger Sanchez’s legendary Stealth label.
The five-track effort lives up to its Yoruba name, gift or blessing, and represents a career-defining point for the producer and vocalist.
After trying out various house music genres, TheGoddessMusic has developed her own unique sound. Ashe is defined as the soundtrack to loving, not another person, but yourself. It’s about becoming vulnerable, letting yourself open to profound love, and getting empowered through music.
The EP begins with “Find Me,” an entrancing track that combines hypnotic chords with a gliding bassline. TheGoddessMusic describes the song as showing her desire for validation in love, a wanting to be wanted totally and unabashedly.
Next comes “Show Me Love,” a bold reimagining of Robin S’s timeless hit. Infused with Afro House energy, the track bridges generations while showcasing her evolving style. “It speaks to the evolution of my sound,” she explains, noting how the remake connects with the larger story of her EP.
“Feel No Way” is a follow-up anthem of self-assurance. Drawing inspiration from Jamaican Patois, the song urges listeners to overcome envy and negativity with unapologetic force.
The fourth single, “Something,” TheGoddessMusic partnered with StanBizzy, incorporating her traditional afro drum patterns and emotional vocals. The song preserves the anxious thrill of falling in love with someone new and conjures the raw feelings of nascent love.
The EP concludes with its namesake, “Ashe,” a spiritually charged celebration based in Yoruba tradition. Blending tribal beats and mantric vocals, it’s intended to energize and invite listeners into alignment with the music.
Legendary DJ Roger Sanchez hailed both her vocal and production abilities, endorsing her craft as she embarks in a new era. Ashe EP, TheGoddessMusic not only proves her inspiration but also marks her ascension as one of house music’s most promising voices in 2025.
