TikTok personality Becca Bloom has married long-time beau David Pownall in an idyllic Lake Como wedding that resembled something out of a movie.
The influencer, also known as Rebecca Ma, wed the software engineer on August 28 in a small ceremony in the beautiful Villa Balbiano in Italy. The pair decided to limit their guest list to only 60 people so that it was as intimate as it was memorable.
“We’re both introverts, and the thought of reading our vows in front of hundreds of people felt daunting,” Becca told Vogue in an interview published on September 3. Instead, their vows carried the essence of their relationship, capturing the little moments that shaped their love story. Becca shared how they first found comfort in each other while baking apple pies and flying kites, and how late-night conversations about life and ideas brought them closer.
David, however, reserved his words a little more personal, but concluded with a statement that brought everyone to tears: his desire that Becca’s face would be the face he saw last and her hand the one he clung to as he reached God.
For the wedding day, Becca donned a stunning bespoke Oscar de la Renta gown covered in laser-cut peonies, a reference to the Chinese heritage of her parents. Her look was finished with Chanel heels, Van Cleef & Arpels accessories, and her David 2023 Positano proposal engagement ring.
Nature was also a part of the story. While rain clouds threatened the wedding ceremony, the weather cleared at the last minute for Becca’s procession down the aisle. The drizzle didn’t make an appearance until later in the evening, just after the couple cut into a classic Italian millefoglie in lieu of a traditional wedding cake.
But what might have been a disturbance became one of the evening’s most dramatic moments. As silver fireworks exploded against the wet sky, David spun Becca around in his arms. Her dress crackled slightly, his hair came close to flames, and the two of them laughed in the rain as if it were the climax of a romantic comedy.
Looking back at the day, Becca clung to the symbolism of the storm. “They say that a wet knot is the most difficult to loosen, and that’s how our vows have been, tied, blessed, and eternal. Rain or shine, our love is powerful enough to see us through.”
