Tory Lanez has allegedly been stabbed in prison and rushed to the hospital, according to a bombshell report from TMZ on Monday, May 12.

The Canadian rapper, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, is reportedly recovering after an altercation with another inmate at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi. Multiple sources, including someone in law enforcement, told the outlet that Lanez was attacked in the prison yard and transported by ambulance to receive medical treatment. While his injuries are said to be non-life-threatening, the details are still emerging.

The 32-year-old “Traphouse” artist is currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion back in July 2020. His time behind bars has already been surrounded by controversy, and this latest incident just adds fuel to the fire. PEOPLE reached out to Lanez’s legal team, but there’s been no official comment yet.

This alleged stabbing incident happened less than a year after Lanez was sentenced in August 2023, following a December 2022 conviction. The charges? One felony count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, another for carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. All of this stemmed from that infamous night in Hollywood Hills when he shot Megan in the feet.

The drama didn’t end there. In January of this year, Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, was granted a five-year restraining order against Lanez. That order is valid through January 9, 2030, and was confirmed by Judge Richard Bloom in the Superior Court of California in L.A. County. The court ruled in Megan’s favor after she presented compelling evidence and said, quite chillingly, “I feel like maybe he’ll shoot me again, and maybe this time I won’t make it.” That quote, as reported by journalist Meghann Cuniff, shows just how much fear and trauma Megan continues to live with.

Court documents cited “unlawful violence, a credible threat of violence, or stalking” as the basis for the restraining order. Megan had filed it back in December 2024, asking the court to stop Lanez from allegedly harassing her through third parties while serving time. The documents accused Lanez of continuing to revictimize her even after being sentenced. “Despite being sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Ms. Pete, Mr. Peterson continues to subject her to repeated trauma and revictimization,” the paperwork read.

Lanez didn’t stay quiet though. He fired back, accusing Megan of “weaponizing the justice system.” Their toxic back-and-forth has been public and heated ever since the shooting incident in 2020. Now, with reports of Lanez being stabbed in prison, the chaos surrounding him seems to be far from over.

The stabbing adds another dark chapter to this already disturbing saga. While Lanez’s condition is reportedly stable, questions are swirling about his safety behind bars. This isn’t just about a rap beef anymore, it’s a full-blown cautionary tale of violence, trauma, and consequences. For someone already convicted of such a violent crime, getting stabbed in prison shows how dangerous things can get even after the courtroom verdict is in.

Lanez’s legal journey, his rocky relationship with Megan, and now this alleged stabbing are all shaping a story that just won’t stop making headlines. Whether you’re a fan or not, there’s no denying this saga continues to shake the music industry and stir conversations around justice, celebrity, and accountability.
