Two drown in separate incidents in Cuddalore

In two separate incidents, an elderly woman and a teenage boy, drowned in water bodies in Cuddalore district.

According to police, the body of V. Muthulakshmi, 80, a resident of Guruvankuppam village in Cuddalore was found in a lake at Mathur on Monday (May 19, 2025). She was washed away while crossing a canal when she was returning home on Saturday. Her son had lodged a ‘woman missing’ complaint. After two days of search, her body was retrieved from the lake, police said. 

In another incident, a 13-year-old boy drowned while swimming in a pond at Kavarapattu village near Chidambaram. He was missing since Sunday and after search, the body was found in the pond on Monday, police said.
