The Ernakulam Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) special cell has registered a case against a doctor for allegedly possessing assets worth ₹19.78 lakh disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Saji Sebastian, 54, from Thrissur, who now serves at the Kozhikode Government Medical College, is the one who was booked. The VACB had launched a preliminary inquiry against the accused after he was allegedly found to be engaged in private practice during a flash inspection.

While working as an Associate Professor at the medical college, Dr. Sebastian was allegedly found to have made properties, including deposits of ₹2.55 crore in various bank accounts. Out of this, ₹19.78 lakh was found to be disproportionate to his known sources of income, a statement issued by the VACB said.

A VACB special cell team, which raided Dr. Sebastian’s house in Thrissur and his temporary residence in Kozhikode on Friday, claimed to have seized around 10 documents related to his disproportionate sources of income, among other things.
