
Visakhapatnam: Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences has set up a special Covid-19 ward with 20 beds. VIMS director Dr K Rambabu said rapid test kits along with medicines are available at VIMS.
He advised the public to be cautious about the virus, which is spreading again in some parts of the country in recent days.
“Andhra Pradesh govt is alert as coronavirus, which shook the world three years ago, is now evolving into new forms and spreading. Amid concerns about new lineages or sub-lineages of Omicron such as JN 1, LF 7, and NB 1.8, the govt has directed VIMS to prepare a special Covid ward with 20 beds.
Following the first case reported in Vizag city on Thursday, rapid antigen testing kits have been made available. If a rapid test comes back positive, patients will be immediately sent for RT-PCR testing to confirm the infection,” he said.
As a precaution, PPE kits have been arranged for doctors and staff treating Covid-19 patients, and necessary medicines have been stocked.
