Having lost a combined total of 39 Premier League games this season, United and Spurs know their campaigns rest on a victory.

As such, Ruben Amorim and Ange Postecoglou will be prepared for all scenarios in their pursuits of delivering Europa League glory.

United are entering their fourth final in three years, but haven’t been at this stage in European competition since 2019.

Tottenham, meanwhile, haven’t reached a major tournament showpiece since their Champions League final loss in the same year.

What are the Europa League final rules?

If United and Spurs can’t be separated after 90 minutes, the two teams will play two 15-minute periods of extra time.

During that additional half hour, a sixth substitute can be introduced by each manager on top of the five typically allowed.

In 90 minutes, both teams can stop the game a maximum of three times to make subs, which extends to four in extra-time.

Any changes made during half-time, between full-time and the start of extra time and half-time of extra time don’t count as a stoppage.

The players will remain on the pitch if extra-time is needed following the end of normal time, with play restarted after a five-minute break.

The 2025 Europa League final will be determined by a standard penalty shoot-out if there is still no winner after 120 minutes.
